SeaFAC, through ASTMHA Inc., was approached about the VIPES Peanut Allergy Study in November, 2012, though the study had already begun in multiple sites in the US, Canada, and Europe. The initial logistics of study start-up, including critical scientific and Human Subjects Review Board approvals, typically require at least 6 months to complete for this type of study. Our site was initiated in April, 2013 just several days prior to the closure of recruitment for subjects between the ages of 6 and 11. We were able to enroll and randomize 1 patient in the 6-11 age group and 10 more in the 12-17 age group before the study enrollment closed in mid-June, 2013.

Virginia Mason Medical Center/ Benaroya Research Institute is funding  research studies looking at how the immune cells that direct food allergy development, T- lymphocytes, recognize the specific parts of the food proteins in an effort to more accurately diagnosis food allergy.  These studies will involve a blood draw.  If you may be interested in participating in these studies, please contact the clinical coordinator , Lisa Myers Bulmash, at Benaroya Research Institute-  Email: [email protected]  Phone: 206-287-1049
